Mold, sheep dung, swallow’s nest – healing knowledge behind monastery walls
Hands-on exhibition for young and old from October 7 to July 21, 2024 (extended).
The exhibition is dedicated to selected aspects of the pharmacopoeia: from the Lorsch scriptorium as a monastic writing room to the recipes and the monastery garden to the monastery as a place of healing.
Fresh from the well – the newest archaeological finds of medieval history at Lorsch
During the investigation of an old well on the grounds of the monastery a few years ago, unexpectedly high-quality medieval architectural and sculptural fragments came to light and can now be seen in a special multimedia exhibition in the Zehntscheune until October 27, 2024.YOKE – JOUG – AYOKO

Monastery history department
The monastery history department, located in the museum center in the immediate vicinity of the Königshalle and Klosterhügel, gives its visitors a compact impression of the outstanding importance of the former imperial monastery.
Exhibition depot Zehntscheune
In 2015, objects from over 200 years of excavation history at Lorsch Abbey were brought together for the first time in the post-monastery barn on the monastery hill and staged in a joint exhibition.Tobacco Museum
The tobacco museum housed in the museum center shows one of the largest special exhibitions in this field. It reflects the historical importance that tobacco growing and processing has had for Lorsch and the region since the 17th century.
