Herb Tour

The Lorsch Pharmacopoeia was written in Lorsch Abbey; it is the oldest work of monastic medicine in the German-speaking world. The text is written in Latin and its sources were predominantly from Antiquity. This period of medical history (which peaked in the 8th–12th centuries) relies on the effects of healing plants. Medicine was practised exclusively by monks and nuns. The extensive herb garden brings this medicinal knowledge to life.

Tobacco Workshops and Guided Tours

The town’s prosperity is based on 300 years of tobacco cultivation and processing. Did you know that tobacco was once regarded as a cure and is now used as a CO2 indictor in the field of environmental protection? We can also show you how cigars are rolled. Sampling a cigar and an accompanying drink is voluntary, of course!
